Volunteer Appreciation Month

April is National Volunteer Month—a time to recognize and celebrate the people who make our work possible. At Cathedral Kitchen, volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. Whether you’re serving meals, distributing groceries or hygiene items, lending professional expertise, or donating sandwiches made at home with your family, your impact is felt every single day. On April 9th, we had the pleasure of hosting a special evening to recognize some of our most steadfast supporters, who go above and beyond to keep CK running strong.

Guests enjoyed a delicious dinner catered by students in our Culinary Arts Training program and heard inspiring remarks from our Executive Director, Carrie Kitchen-Santiago, about the great work we’ve accomplished together this year, and the impact our supporters make possible.

To everyone who volunteers, donates, or shares our mission—thank you. In 2024 alone, 2,759 volunteers gave an incredible 17,323 hours of service to Cathedral Kitchen. That’s thousands of meals served, supplies packed, events supported, and lives touched, thanks to people like you! As we look toward our 50th Anniversary in 2026, we’re excited to continue changing lives with you by our side!

And just because National Volunteer Month is over doesn’t mean you can’t join in! In fact, summer is when we tend to see a drop in volunteers, so it’s the perfect time to get involved and make a real impact.

Here are some great ways to give back at CK:

No act of support is too small. On behalf of all of us at Cathedral Kitchen, thank you for showing up and making an impact.
