South Jersey Legal Services
We’re thrilled to be partnering with South Jersey Legal Services! SJLS has been visiting CK monthly this summer, providing information to our guests about their free legal services and helping guests with a range of legal issues, including eviction, landlord/tenant disputes, safety from domestic violence, and removing legal barriers to benefits and assistance programs, among other civil law issues. SJLS will continue to come to CK on a regular basis to provide free, on-site services during our Meal Program.
YMCA Summer Program
CK proudly participated in the CK + YMCA Camden Kids Cook! Initiative. All summer, we provided 100 meal kits per week to YMCA campers. They received a bundle each Thursday afternoon with everything needed to prepare a meal with their families. The included recipe cards have a link to a video of a CK chef preparing the meal. Such fun!

Carversville Farm
In addition to providing us with thousands of pounds of fresh, organic produce and meat annually, Carversville Farm Foundation hosts our culinary arts students and staff every summer for a day at the Farm. It’s always a fantastic experience to see where our food comes from and to learn about sustainable farming practices. We’re so grateful for all that Carversville Farm Foundation does to provide healthy, free food for people who are struggling to make ends meet.
Summer isn’t summer without a BBQ!
Nothing says summer like hot dogs, hamburgers, and chicken on the grill! Our CK chefs outdid themselves again this summer with good food, good music, and good friends. In-between our monthly barbeques, guests were treated to fresh fruit smoothies every Tuesday. A healthy treat on a hot day!
Summer Gardening at Subaru of America
In addition to regularly volunteering with us in the dining room, providing donations for our guests, and helping our culinary arts students, this summer Subaru provided us with delicious fresh produce from their Share the Love Garden. We’re grateful for their ongoing support! Several of our Culinary Arts Training Program graduates are now employed there, and Subaru even sponsors our annual Harvest for Hunger event!
